Reviews

Real words from the families who dress their little scientists in Stemmewear. Every review helps another parent choose well, and a portion of every purchase supports girls in STEM through the Canadian Association of Girls in Science.

Meet the Founder

I founded Stemmewear on a simple principle: to help girls feel included in STEM from an early age.

"I had a teacher tell me I did poorly on a math test because I was a girl."

When I was in high school, I had a teacher tell me I did poorly on a math test because I was a girl. Those words crushed me, and it took changing schools and finding teachers to regain my confidence, and I can happily say I use math every single day. Fast forward, I now have a daughter, and I’d never want her to feel this way. I was tired of all of the unicorn and princess themed clothing being marketed to girls, and realized I wanted to do more for her.

Sparking a Lifetime of Wonder

We partner with talented women around the world to create science-themed designs out of organic materials. Our clothes break the stereotypes that trucks are for boys, and dolls are for girls.

  • Canadian Association for Girls in Science (CAGIS)

CAGIS is Canada’s largest and longest-running STEM club for girls aged 7 to 16, with local chapters across the country and virtual programming nationwide. Members visit real labs and industry sites, do hands-on projects, and meet role models in science, technology, engineering, trades, and math. A portion of every Stemmewear purchase supports their work.

  • Past Partners

Stemmewear has also supported Plan International, providing digital literacy programming and school essentials for girls, and Girls Who Code, a nonprofit working to close the gender gap in computer science.
